Film Chronicles: Amalfi Coast
Why film means a lot to me
There’s something special with film. Seeing a picture for the first time weeks (or sometimes even months) after shooting it just makes the whole process much more genuine.
I started shooting film after I came back from a 6-day trip in my home province with more than 2000 pictures to edit. I could not believe how many times I had pushed that button and ended up with only about 10 shots I really liked. I decided to turn to film to reconnect with photography. To take time to think about the shot, the composition, the lightning, etc. I fell in love with the whole process. I cherish all the 36 slots I have on a film and really push the button only if I think it’s worth it. Every click is precious. When I shoot film, the ratio of pictures I am satisfied with vs the ones I throw away has nothing to do with digital.
My take on the Amalfi Coast
Ahhh the Amalfi Coast. Winding roads and crystal clear waters. Amazing food and beautiful sea-side villages perched up high in the mountains. I was ready that this would be a really touristic area. Even in October, the amount of people got my head spinning. I escaped the crowds by walking off the main squares into the tiny streets. And this is where the magic really happens.
The pictures below were taken in Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano and Ravello.
My only regret is that I didn’t shoot more than one roll.
